How to Enable or Disable Hotlink Protection in DirectAdmin

Hotlink protection prevents other websites from directly linking to files (like images) hosted on your site, which can save bandwidth and protect your content. Here’s how you can enable or disable Hotlink Protection in DirectAdmin.

Step 1: Log in to DirectAdmin

  1. Access your DirectAdmin account by logging in with your username and password.

Step 2: Open Hotlink Protection

  • Once logged in, locate the Account Manager section in the main dashboard.
  • Click on Hotlink Protection to access its settings.

Step 3: Configure Protected File Types

  1. In the Protected file types field, enter the file types you want to protect (e.g., jpg, jpeg, gif, bmp, ico, svg, png). These are the file extensions that other websites won’t be able to link to directly.

Step 4: Set Redirect URL (Optional)

  1. In the Redirect field, specify the URL where you want to redirect users who try to hotlink to your files. You can redirect them to a placeholder image or a different page.

Step 5: Save Your Settings

  1. After configuring the settings, click Save to enable Hotlink Protection.
  2. If you want to disable Hotlink Protection later, simply uncheck or clear the file types field and click Save.

Your Hotlink Protection is now set up!
