How to Install SSL in DirectAdmin

Installing an SSL certificate in DirectAdmin is straightforward with the Let’s Encrypt option. This guide will walk you through each step to enable HTTPS for your website, securing the connection for visitors.

Step 1: Log In to DirectAdmin

  • Access your DirectAdmin control panel by entering your username and password.
  • Once logged in, you’ll be directed to the main dashboard.

Step 2: Navigate to SSL Certificates

  • In the DirectAdmin dashboard, go to Account Manager in the left sidebar.
  • Click on SSL Certificates to open the SSL Certificates page, where you’ll manage SSL options for your domain.

Step 3: Select Automatic Certificate from ACME Provider

  • On the SSL Certificates page, choose Get automatic certificate from ACME Provider. This option will enable an automatic SSL installation for your selected domain using Let’s Encrypt.

Step 4: Configure SSL Settings

  • Fill in the following options as prompted:
    • ACME Provider: Select Let’s Encrypt (the default and widely supported SSL provider).
    • Common Name: Choose the domain where you want to install the SSL certificate.
    • Key Size (bits), Certificate Type, and Certificate Entries: Leave these settings as default unless instructed otherwise by your hosting provider.

Step 5: Save and Install

  • Click on Save to submit the SSL installation request.
  • DirectAdmin will then connect to Let’s Encrypt and request a certificate for your domain. The installation process typically takes a few minutes.

Step 6: Verify SSL Installation

  • After a few minutes, refresh your page or check the SSL Certificates section to confirm the SSL certificate is active.
  • Once completed, your website will be accessible over HTTPS, indicating a secure connection for visitors.

Your SSL certificate is now installed and active! With SSL enabled, your website will display the secure padlock icon in browsers, enhancing trust and security.
