How to Install ownCloud via Softaculous in cPanel

ownCloud is a popular open-source platform for storing, sharing, and syncing files. Softaculous makes it easy to install ownCloud directly in your hosting environment without manually configuring files or databases.


Step 1: Log in to Your cPanel Account

  1. Log in to your cPanel account to access the control panel.

Step 2: Open Softaculous Apps Installer

  1. In the Software section, click on Softaculous Apps Installer.

Step 3: Find ownCloud

  1. In the Softaculous dashboard, search for ownCloud in the search bar, or locate it under the File Management category.
  2. Click on ownCloud when it appears in the search results.

Step 4: Start the Installation

  1. On the ownCloud information page, click the Install button.

Step 5: Configure Installation Settings

  • Choose the Domain: Select the domain or subdomain where you want to install ownCloud.
  • Directory (optional): Leave this field empty to install ownCloud directly on your chosen domain, or enter a folder name (e.g., “owncloud”) to install it in a subdirectory.
  • Admin Username: Set a username for the ownCloud administrator account.
  • Admin Password: Create a strong password for the administrator account.

Step 6: Complete the Installation

  1. Review your settings, then click Install to start the installation process.
  2. Softaculous will install ownCloud, which may take a few moments.

Step 7: Access Your ownCloud Installation

  1. After the installation is complete, Softaculous will display a confirmation screen with the URL to your new ownCloud instance.
  2. Click the URL to access your ownCloud dashboard and log in with the admin username and password you set.

Your ownCloud installation is now complete! You can start uploading, sharing, and managing files in your new cloud environment.
