How to Set Up Dynamic DNS (DDNS) in cPanel

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

  • Start by logging into your cPanel account.

Step 2: Locate the Dynamic DNS Feature

  • In the cPanel dashboard, scroll down to the Domains section.
  • Click on Dynamic DNS.

Step 3: Enable Dynamic DNS for a Domain or Subdomain

  • In the Dynamic DNS interface, you’ll see a list of available domains and subdomains.
  • Next to the domain or subdomain you want to enable DDNS for, click Create

Step 4: Generate the Update URL

  • Once DDNS is enabled for a domain or subdomain, cPanel will provide a unique Update URL.
  • This URL is essential for updating your IP address dynamically. Copy the URL for later use in the DDNS client.

Step 5: Set Up a Dynamic DNS Client

  • On the device you want to link with DDNS, install a Dynamic DNS Client. Examples include ddclient for Linux or No-IP for Windows and Mac.
  • In the client settings, paste the Update URL you copied from cPanel.
  • Configure the client to check your IP address periodically and automatically send updates if it changes.

Step 6: Confirm Your Configuration

  • Once set up, test by disconnecting and reconnecting your device to see if the IP address updates in real time.
  • You should be able to access your domain/subdomain remotely, even if the IP changes.

And that’s it! By following these steps, you’ve successfully set up Dynamic DNS in cPanel, ensuring your domain or subdomain always points to the correct IP address.
